In 1944, Angelo Vergani opened a small bakery in Viale Monza, Milan and dedicated his passion for baking into crafting exceptional panettone and colombe. Four generations later, the Vergani family has preserved the values and traditions that have made their brand a symbol of excellence in Italy and abroad. Today, Vergani is the only Milanese company still producing panettone on an industrial scale, with each cake baked just a few hundred meters from the original bakery and an annual output of 600,000 cakes. Vergani carefully selects each ingredient and follows the original recipe to ensure excellence. At the heart of their process is their natural yeast, the secret to their renowned panettone. Today, Vergani still uses the natural sourdough starter created by Angelo Vergani, which is wrapped in a cloth and refreshed three times a day in true Milanese tradition. It takes three days to create each panettone, with ingredients like Italian orange peel, Australian 5-crown sultanas, Italian honey, almonds, and Madagascar vanilla, all coming together to deliver a cake that captures the warmth of the holidays and the embrace of time honored tradition in every bite.
